I'm an old freshie that got the itch for SW so when a free 45g tall and a 20g long came along I grabbed it up and started lurking around this site back in Aug. I learned how to set-up the sump/fug here thanks everyone. Read alot about LR and LS. I set up the tank around mid Sept. Still gotta skin the stand and canopy. Sorry for the poor pics crappy camera. Any input would be greatly appreciated. TIA JP8)

A sand sifting star in a new tank? Good luck with that adventure.

::)I was over feeding the fish early on and the LFS suggested it. I do feed it small bits of shrimp daily I just drop it infront of it when its on the move. Hopefully this will keep it going until the tank matures. What do you think?::)

hahaha. Sand sifting stars have been found to be diffuiult to care for...even in mature tanks. While some people have gotten away with it, for a short while, I would only recommend it for large & mature tanks. They deplete the system pretty fast and that's when they begin to starve.

I guess maybe if you are supplementing its diet. I think normally they eat dead things that fall on the sand bed & also micro bacteria?

Tank looks great and good score. If you liked fresh you should find SW very rewarding. You may want to add some more LR as it will help significantly with filtration.

Sand sifting stars will do fine for months and then they can slowly starve to death. The need a large established system to provided the micro-organisms and algaes that they need to survive. It is very common for LFS to advise the sale of an invert/coral and fish that are not appropriate for an individual system.
