Nice tank, you do have some good flow, you may even try removing one of those power heads.

What's that pvc pipe for on the right?

Also, your flower pot corals isn't looking too hot. They are very hard to keep alive, they require "dirty" water similar to elegance corals and carnation corals.

oh ya the goniopora in the middle. when i first got it it opened fully then just stopped opening up well. i moved it down to where it is and it opens better down there in the lower flow. what flow/ lighting does this coral like. it is one of my favorites

The pvc pipe is a creative solution to that problem. I'm sorry, your're right, I was refering to the gonipora. To my eyes, it looks really bleached. They are notoriously hard to keep, one reason why many people are very happy that ORA has come out with an aquacultured variety that apparently does pretty well in the home aquarium. Besides that though, most people aren't able to support them for very long. They originate in nutrient rich waters near the coast, similar to elegance corals. Usually the "pristine" water of our home aquariums doesn't provide them with enough nutrients and they bleach and eventually die. Personally I've never attempted to keep one. How long have you had it?

The Goniopora is very difficult and has gotten the reputation of "rent a coral". It must be target fed , each polyp. I like the flow and would leave it. Everything else should be o.k. By the way, the tank is awesome!

thank you fort he tank comments.....this is my first reef and the beginning of it was HARD dealing with plumbing....overflows...drilling etc. but i look at it as a learning experience so i can have bigger...better tanks in the future. my tank is going to be turning one in october. as for the goniopora...ive had it almost a year also. i never feed any of my corals. the goniopora was the same color when i got it. if it dies i just wont be getting that coral again. so far from my experience xenia, mushrooms, zoanthids, leathers, and g.s.p are very easy corals.
