I bought this setup from a guy on Craigslist about a month ago. Right now it is a fish only tank exept for the hitchhiking green star polyps. I plan on making this tank a reef soon probably once I get my RO/DI unit. As you can probably tell I'm having a diatom outbreak on the rocks hopefully they will be gone soon. It has a 20 gallon sump/fuge with some type of macro algae in it, I plan to put some chaeto in the fuge soon. Right now the only tank inhabitants are a juvi yellow tang, a coral beauty, and a magneta dottyback. Any tips, comments, or criticism are welcome as this is my first tank.:)

Looks like a good start. Are you planning on adding more rock? Good Luck with the first tank!

nice setup and fish, even though they might be a bit agressive to new fish. also have you tried scraping off the diatoms?

I actually have about 75lbs of once live fiji rock in storage. Would I need to cure it before adding it to my tank?

I was told the yellow tang would be a problem with new additions but he's actually very timid and peacefull, the one I'm worried about is the coral beauty she bullies the dottyback. Also what should I use to scrape the diatoms off the rock?

Going to the LFS tomorrow to pick up a pair of clowns. Also getting a frag of green zoas and a 3 headed frogspawn tomorrow as well will post pics tomorrow night after I get them. Do you guys think the new corals will do OK under just 10k pc lights?
