One of my Mexican hermits died. My water parameters are good. I guess it was just his time. Still sucks though. I was planning on getting my first fish today and now I'm nervous, but everything else is doing fine.:-/

How long since you set your tank up? Have you been testing regularly?

Tank is brand new. Just finished its cycle about a week ago. I've been testing about twice a week. pH 8.2 everything else 0. Last week I bought a couple blue legs, reds, margarita and turbo snails. I had some stomatella HH's that I think have reproduced seeing that there are now several tiny stomatella on the rock and glass. That would lead me to believe that everything is ok, but I'm still new...

Yeah, sometimes it just happens. I wouldnt worry too much though. What are your livestock choices? If its a peaceful tank member I would suggest the cheapest one on the list first just in case. I don't recommend testing the water with livestock at all, but if you been tracking your cycle it should be ok.

The plan was a pair of tank bred ocellaris. I may just get one today then add another next week. Pretty hardy and not costly at all.

Definitely buy a pair of Ocellaris together. Most of the time when you have one and add another at a later time, you will have aggression problems. Pick a pair that is in the same tank together and you will have a much better success rate with them pairing up.

Yeah tapped the glas slightly b/c it was just hanging out there for a day and it didn't move. Looked at it for a while and couldn't see any movement, no gills or legs moving. Took it out and it just sort of slumpped and hung out of its shell.....
