So i finnaly broke down and purchased a new lighting fixture.
First i would like to tell the story as to why i did this.
I was up until 4am last night converting my 55gallon to salt.
I purchased a 4stripe damsel and a clown fish. I added them to my tank (30gallon) with my other fish(Clown, domino Damsel,Green Chromis,Purple Dottyback) As soon as i added them my clown went wild and attaced both my new fish. So now there all in the 55 and havent bothered each other.
The tank was from walmart and had just the 2 lightfixtures on it that came from the store. I believe its 2 sections 24"s with a solo light on both side's. I know alot of people frown down on Power Compacts. BUT this is all i could afford. and i dont plan on keeping anything but softies.
Currently i have Green star polyps, Purple Mushroom, and Orange Zonathids.
This fixture has 3 powercords with 3 switches. It has 2 daylights and 2 03 atnics, and has 4 led moonlights. 2built in fans.
AQUARIUM LIGHT 48" REEF ODYSSEA 260WT POWER COMPACT #U3 - eBay (item 270341154419 end time Mar-08-09 19:42:48 PDT)

I believe it should be ok for my application

No problem. I know bogie also recomends MH or T5, but if you look at his aquarium video, you can see what he has had growing just fine under PC for over a year now I think he said. Let me try and find his video.

Yea, i thought it was very reasonible pricing myself. Hence why i bought it. I know its not "Great" But its all i could afford.

QUESTION: When do i turn the moonlights on? Just for night and leave on all night?

well on the biocube they are on 24/7 unless you unplug them
I would say turn em on when you are about to turn the actinic lights off
