I thought I would share my buddy, Rocky, with my 3reef friends. He is a 10 month old male Ball Python. Super friendly little guy. Just chills with me while I watch tv or pulling the all nighters.
    Well here he is.

Wow, very beautiful snake! A lot of my friends get creeped out with the whole snakes, rats, spiders things...but Ive had rats for yearssss and they're the most personable animals!(along with my pufferfish) but I was thinking about getting a snake until I found out they ate rats/mice...haha..but again, very beautiful python

haha Yeah, it's hard to put the mouse or rat to death by snake. It's nature I guess. I have tried over and over to get him to eat frozen food, but he won't.
    Thanks. :)
Go for it! you won't regret getting a snake. I mean they aren't going to cuddle with you, but they do understand who feeds them. ha

heh I have a Ball Python as well, and she is only about 6 months old. Their defense is to curl or ball (hence the name Ball Python) up so they hide their head and tail, their most vulnerable parts. They do not have "fangs" like other snakes with the 2 big teeth in front for injecting venom, they are a constricting snake so they have teeth that are curved backward (kind of like a saw) but they are very tiny so it is very hard to get them to let go of anything they have in their mouth whether it be a mouse or your hand. Most injuries when bit by a ball python are the persons, not the snakes fault from the person getting freaked out and yanking their hand back and cutting their hand in the process. A word to the wise start on em when they are young and pet their head and tail, it keeps them from wanting to strike at someone when they are adults when someone gets to close to their head or tail.
