I think George or Homer would suit him well.

NeighborTom was spot on regarding the common name

yeah every time the fish swims up to the front, everyone can yell

    "NORM!!!!"

i vote for Norman too ;D

I am a great fan of hawk fish - I have a flame hawk - was truly worried he would be way too aggressive since they like to perch and "ambush" their food. Mine has worked out well - he was not the first fish in the tank so he couldnt bully anyone else.

right now Chief (as we so fondly named ours) is the most inquisitive fish in the tank - he is nosey to the point of keeping a close eye on everything that goes on in his little world including what I might be doing if i am near the tank. If anything he gets chased every so often - likely for his constant need to plant himself right in the midst of whatever the other fish might be doing. It is never out of aggression though - I truly get the sense that this fish just likes companionship and hates to sit still for too long.

Granted I do not know what other fish and critters you have - but I hope you decide to get this little guy. Ive seen the pygmies at my LFS and love them. I have a feeling you will enjoy it a lot. Their mannerisms are fascinating and definitely entertaining.

    Keep us posted.

I have one!! He's a high fin perchlet, or geometric pygmy hawkfish. They are actually anthias - not hawkfish. They just act like hawkfish. They "can" eat small shrimp, but I wouldn't worry. My guy bothers nobody!

He swims around like a submarine and is super cute. His name is Spike!

I did read if its a Geometric pigmy hawk that they are very reef safe. With no other warnings on the research I did. The site I found said they are one of the best aquarium fish to own. But hard to find somtimes.
