Are you set on a jbj or do you want to just put one together yourself from scratch. Most often, it is a better deal to put together on your own (or have us help you spend your money;D).

i think the jbj 24 has an option for a 150w MH hood. i would go with that, if u wanted to keep corals. mount the corals n e way you want as long as the flow and placement in the tank is suitable for them, they make an underwater expony to secure them to your LR.

I had a jbj 12 gallon dx.. I was really happy with it. Just keep a eye on your temp... I kept alot of different corals in it and ended up using the 48 watts and ballast on a diy retro fit for my 5.5 now.. the lighting system lasted me about 3 yrs and still going strong...

I think the standard version has pc lighting for about 3 watts per gallon. Some easy corals to keep are leathers, mushrooms, zoas, xenia, you may even be able to get an lps or two. Now, it will be very important before you buy a coral that you know what it needs, light, flow, compatility, temperment, feeding. It seems that you are just starting out, and as we all did, you should do some reading to catch yourself up on corals you may want to keep. Hammer and torches are fairly hardy and easy to keep, but in a small tank like that, a hammer coral can kill almost any other coral very quickly, except for a frogspawn. Torches may be ok, but you may run into lighting issues. As far as placing corals and doing reserach, I would invest in a good book on corals. This will be of great benefit and will save you time and money down the road.
