i was thinking of starting a nao reef setup in my office at work. i was thinking that i was going to go with the Nano cube deluxe. but after going to a LFS i noticed a different type of setup....kind of like a Eclipse setup but it was a diferent maker.the price was right for $79 for a 12gallon and $54 for a 6gallon. my concern was the lighting 24watt pc and a 12 watt pc. ant thought on different easy work setups?

I went through the same thing about 2 years ago and have tried ALOT of nano setups, the new nano cubes simply cant be compared to ther systems. If the cash is REal tight I would just grab a stock nano off ebay for $99 (usually around $108 after shipping and alil more for insurance) The ones your speaking of i beleive to be by lifetech (or a sister company jebo) and are taller more than cube like, the light fixtures on them are very poorly soldered and go out pretty quick. Also the filtraion is underground....not good with sand as even if it doesnt fall throug the flow is miniscuel. The best bang for the buck is by far the DX, for around 140, you get as close to plug and play as possible in an aquarium. Heres some links on them........yes i am biased......;D They have served me well beyond my expectations, also i have owned the ones you are talking about and they went back the the store the 1st month.

http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Gallon-Nano-...ryZ20755QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem the stock version that still kicks butt for softies

the one i was looking at had the filter system on the canopy. bue it wasn't an eclipse. i currently have a JBJ nano for home office its not the DX just the stock. it does well but i was thinking of the DX for my work office because i wanted to kick it up a notch......i was just wondering if there is any others out there i should consider.

Have you looked at the aquapod. A lot like the nanocubes. The 12g has some wiring issues and was recalled but its supposed to be fixed now. The good thing about the aqaupods is that the moonlight and main light are on different ballasts unlike the nanos.

I forgot to mention that the aquapod also has a built in protein skimmer. You should definately check out nanocustoms.com.
