My surge protector that my tank is plug into got unplugged by my dog while my husband and I were at work and we came home to a a very cold tank and a near floating pacu. The pacu is big, probably about 6 months old and quite heavy. The oscar in the tank is hanging on, hes not floating and hes swimming and being mildly active. We put the pacu in the bathtub and ran warm water for him but he's still not very responsive. Any suggestions?! PLEASE help!! TIA

plug the tank back in and if the pasu is still alive please put him back in the tank. running the warmer water over him will just shock him even more. what was the temp in the tank? and did you de chlorinate the water in the bath tub? pacu's are tough, but the water with chlorine in it would burn his gills.

    heres a good answer

I got a pacu, and they are prety hardy fish. Heres what you do. Get everything in the tank running. If you were ever using tap water STOP! i speak form experience when i say PACU's are very sensative to clorine. If you were using clorine, take out 20% of your tankwater, replaced with treated tap water. better yet, go out and get some big juggs of distilled water. They cost like 1.99 at the supermarket. But the new water in your tank, but heat it up to 5 degrees higher than you want your tank water. If your tank is cold, it will help heat it up. The rest is up to the heater. Now to repair His/her's gills, get some stress coat, and use as directed. Also, an oscar, and a pacu, should be in a big tank, try, 20-30 gal. minimum. If the oscars bigger, he may of chased the pacu around until the pacu was near dead from being over tired. Also, it might be oxygen levle. Its a missed idea, but i think pacus need a high oxygen level. And even if they dont, with a high oxygen level, you tank can go with out circulation for 5-6 hours(all depends on the fish) hope this helps.
    Good luck.
