I knew the title of this thread would get some hits!;)

To my point... here are some pics of my tank after I got my VHO's going today. As you can see, the light bounces off the walls from behind my canopy and puts a "halo" around my tank. What can I do to put a shield or something around the canopy to stop this, but I don't want to cut off air flow? It looks a lot worse in person than it does in the pic. I can't be the only person who has encountered this problem... any ideas???

More pics in my tank thread!;)

You will have to cover it some how my friend. Open up some vents on the side for cooling, bring air in one side and out the other. At least put something half way down to block the light. Maybe try some eggcrate to diffuse the light.

Or, have you ever seen a louvered door or a bi-fold door, the angle that the wood is installed. Try something like that, that way the light will be deflected downwards instead of upwards. But the best way is what Otty mentioned. Nice pic BTW. Luna

I'll have to work on it. I was planning on putting vents on both sides for circulation anyhow. I might try putting some sort of cloth or something draping from the sides. Anyone who has crossed this bridge and doesn't have pimp all-around setups like Scott;), please chime in as to what you did!!!

If the back is completely open, then put a peace about a quarter of the way down. That will reduce alot of light reflection and direct more of it downward....

Although not as big as anyone elses tank here on 3Reef, I had the same problem with my 5.5.. I ended up useing the stock reflector from my old tank... Although only a 5.5 gal. 48 watts over 5.5 gal really puts out some light.....
