They're not generally regarded as coral eaters but every one I have owned has picked at something or other until it's death (I recently had three rocks covered with red people eater polyps eaten and I an guessing how they were tossed around the tank it was my hippo). Regardless though, the tank is a 55 and I would definitely recommend that you stay away from a tang. There are so many more fish out there better suited for that size tank that there's no good reason to add a tang.

Fairy Wrasse is a good idea. We have an absolutely beautiful yellow finned fairy. The body is entirely pink except for the fins which are yellow. They are peaceful and swim in and out of the rocks all day..If you can find one, it would make a nice addition8)

Agree with CR - Fairy wrasses are beautiful and have lots of personality.

If you don't have the $ to spend on one. Just get a sixline.

Great personality and fun to watch.

Longfin cardinalfish, like a Banggai. I love those guys. You could get a pair. They're very community oriented fish. Why, just last week I saw one giving blood at a Salvation Army.
