    Hello everyone,
Don't think I have posted here, but i think its about time, and I might be in need of some assistance. I have had my tank for a bout 2 years, and have never had a bad outbreak like this.. The whole back glass is now covered in some brown/green algae and hair algae. I have been stocking up on snails but not too much help, or maybe the wrong ones. Phosphates seem good, have been replacing my chemipure about ever month or so.. Here are some photos, maybe they will help. Any and every answer will probably be a helpful one.. Thank you

How often do you feed your tank and how old are your lights? what type of lighting system are you using T-5/mh etc? do you have a protein skimmer? Need more info about your tank.

Welcome to 3reef, I'll go ahead and say the best thing anyone could do to drastically reduce their algae is to add a good fuge to their system, from there you could add a phosphate reactor, and if you don't already, use RO/DI water.

Ditto Triggerfish The city did some water main work down the street and BAM major phosphate proublem. I have to use RO/DI only now and stepped up the skimmer size. 10 tiny snails and a couple of small water changes with new carbon the algae is gone in less than two weeks. Good Luck

I do use RO water for the evap.. I get it at the local fish store. It is a 55 gal tank, do a 5 gal water change with salt water every week almost. The lights are less then a year old and they are Nova T5s. I do have a protein skimmer thats for like a 60 gal tank..

Check your magnesium levels... I have seen similar problems with algea when all other parameters look good. Mg should be around 1320
