How long since you stopped Zeovit? I'm not super familiar with it but is it possible the water is still too nutrient poor? Have you tried dosing some aminos or some other nutrient source for the coral? Maybe it's a Zeo hangover of some sort?

Ive read a few articals about sps and carbon, most sps do not thrive if used. Over the last year I can also atest to that. I run carbon 1wk a monthduring this time none of me coral open as fully or look as healthy.

I'll kill the Carbon. Thanks for the suggestion. Carbon is needed when running Zeo as it is part of the food source.

you had the hammer for seven years...how old is the tank? Could it be old tank syndrome (I am not familar with that much..but possiblity?)

No I wouldn't think so. My tank is only 3 years old but I've had the hammer in many different tanks

Jason I do not think OTS is your problem actually I would think its the total opposite in that what I find as a weak link with the zeolite filtered systems is you are simply running into a system that was so pure for so long then now its becoming exposed to real bacterial issues like the kid in a bubble syndrome while in his bubble he was fine one little bacterium outside that bubble wiped him out..
You very well may need to dose some ammonium chloride to this system and allow the NO3 and PO4 to raise up a little . Systems these days are simply to pure I find . I like to keep my levels of the PO4 and NO3 to just detectable on a low range scale and hold them in that range give or take a bit.

I was just telling someone a few months ago who was thinking of this system and about what I found with the zeolite filtration method's The mineral has a strong affinity for Calcium and Nitrates as well as PO4 and . Do you dose any trace minerals and elements ?

Did you use that little pump reactor daily ? Not sure if the methods used these days I did used to have to pressurize the cylinder daily to force the water through the zeovite chunks .

Man that sucks hate to hear this bad news buddy

Hey Roger, My Issues began before I stopped running Zeovit, so I'm not sure if the low nutrient was a cause or what. I was going on the theory that a bacteria other than the Zeovit Bac was taking over and causing issues.
I was told to slowly stop Zeo over a few weeks but yanked the reactor (pumped twice a day) out and never looked back.
The tank has not really reacted to the lack of Zeovit. It remains on the same slow and steady downward spiral. So I'm not sure if Zeo played a role at all. Maybe it just gave it a push.

One thing I wanted to ask you is if you have heard of any negative results from the use of CALCIUM CHLORIDE ANHYDROUS PELLETS By DOW.
