Yes Jason that DOW product is iffy at best they reformulated that stuff several yrs back and it wiped out a lot of tanks that I heard of and I knew of 3 or 4 that took a huge hit personally, I think Dow even went so far as to mark their bags Not for aquarium use ? Thats why the stuff I sent you I think and a few others here is totally chemically certified to be safe its simple pure calcium chloride and magnesium chloride and a little calcium carbonate like 2.9% inert stuff and 97.1% Calcium chloride If you need ? I'll send you some on up there .. Heck put that Ca reactor back on line .

That's what I suspected. I never did get any of the CA from you. I wonder what Bulk Reef Supply uses as theirs is the same stuff. Maybe not from DOW.

I do not know what they sell I get mine from a buddy who is a reefer also and is the pant,manager/chemist for the concrete plant in Va who sells the Road contractors the concrete for all Va state Highways . They have to use this specific blend and the state will pull a sample and check it any time they want Thats how I know its totally safe and pure , Just the fact it says Ca chloride unless its certified there is a large area for different blends and concentrations I know that from Sherman showing me the differences with Ca Chloride and Hydrated Lime

"Bulk Reef Supply does not use any of the new Dow material in any of our products. "

(Whoa the color came through and everything, that's a pretty literal quote. :) )

Thanks Screwtape. I had great success with BRS but the shipping to Canada is killer.

Yeah I can imagine it's not pretty. But if you buy in true bulk maybe it won't hurt so much. Are there any other quality bulk suppliers? I don't know, BRS is local to me so I haven't looked around much.

I don't think RHF is going to be able to solve your tank's problem.
As Roger suggested, the zeo systems might be trying to keep things too pure in the system. External bacteria or fungus could have easily entered the tank from a number of ways, on a coral, fish, your hand, etc, and found a healthy environment to grow with nothing compete with or to stop it from rapidly spreading, i.e. the tank has no immune system.
Maybe you could try some type of antibiotic or anti fungus treatment which will work against whatever is chewing up your tank. Maybe the Pimafix or Melafix is the place to start until you can get something stronger maybe from a vet? I may be way off, but just a suggestion.

Also, svcks to hear that your beautiful tank is having problems.

good thoughts Bogie. I have thought of that as well. That is why I went with a 40W UV Sterilizer to see if That would help but maybe an antibiotic is a good Idea

I really do like BRS they are great to deal with and have really helps with the brokerage fees most shippers charge for cross boarder shopping. I will go with them in the future
