    Hello

I just registerd & I'm new to this site. I used to have a freshwater aquarium tankfor many years. I was always attracted to the saltwater corals & fish so I converted it to a saltwater tank.

I have a 46 gallon bow saltwater tank with live rock & corals, I love the beauty of it, but having trouble keeping fish. I've tried Tangs, Angels, and other supposedly safe fish. After a few days they all die, I only have two damsels left. I am totally confused about what iis going on. I have a Rena Filer, Chiller, Powerheads, etc., I do water changes, and my water tests are good.

I go to fish stores, and they always tell me to bring in a water sample, which I do. The water tests are always within in range. Nobody seems to have a positive answer.

I'm looking for answers, I am totally frustated with spending money after money.

    Can anybody help?

    Thank you in advance!

Thanks Drew for your quick responce :)

I am going to the fish store later, and I will get all that information later.

What fish do you recommend for my tank?

    Thanks!

Thanks Bloodkip, I will look at that site.

I know there's a ton of information on the net & the fish stores, mostly they want to sell you something!

That's why I joined this site, hopefully I will get the right answers from people that have been doing this a long time, and know the direction I need to go.

    Thanks for responding!

I too came from the SW side. Has your tank cycled? Also I would consider getting your own testing kits, instead of depending on your LFS. The key to SW is keeping parameters stable, so frequent testing is important.

That is correct.. Plus with you obtaining your own test kit you can keep up with how old it is. You have no clue how old the LFS test kit is.

Thanks to all for your answers, much appreciated. I had my water tested (I will buy my own test kit) they told me my salinity was a little high and my pH was a little low. I bought a pH buffer which I will add to my tank.

They told me to add 1 gallon of RO water (whatever that is) then check the salinity later, and if it was still high add another gallon. He also stated that my salinity should be 1.021-2, and my pH 8.3 is this correct?
