my dog recently got tangled up in the cords for my light on my aquarium and pulled the fixture off the tank onto the ground. needless to say that the bulbs are no longer any good. i have a 2x96 watt fixture and was wanting some ideas from a knowledgeable source on what type of bulbs to replace them with. the old bulbs were 1 50/50 10k and actinic 460nm and a full 10k. i am still not sure on the difference between the actinic 420 and 460nm. i only have a few soft corals in the tank like mushrooms, kenya tree, spaghetti finger and a small colony of button polyps. any ideas on the type of bulb i need would be much appreciated.

Well i know your reffering to PC's, which i have 4-65 watt bulbs on my 55gallon. What kind of live stock do you have? any corals? anenomes? i would go 50/50, just easier on me at the store:p

I would go with 1 10K daylight & 1 460 actinic blue. The 420 will give you more florescence. Going with 1 daylight & 1 blue allows you to more closely replicate actual lighting conditions of what happens during the day. Turn blues on 2 hours before daylight, keep daylight on for 8 hrs & turn off blues 2 hours after the daylights.
