I always go to CL and other reefers, but there is always that thing of a few scratches.

My 125, bought off CL has some scrathes on the front glass.

To be honist, I don't think I looked that well about which side had less scratches before I painted te outside black, whick of sourse is the now backsice- which may have been the front before, and my back glass may actually have less scrathces, but oh well, it's not too bad.

Sometimes I notice very fine algae getting in there that the mag float won't clean.
I then use my hand and a blue looking coarse pad, and/or my 4" wide Stainless steel paint scraper and get those areas, and afterwards the glass looks a lot bettter/less scratched. I do this about every 4-6 months.

While I'm sure it's a good deal on the tank, I coulldn't justify $700 on a tank ATM.

I know about the algea in the scratches. I also used a blue pad to clean them, and it says it wont scratch. However, after years of scrubbing the same spots, it did scratch. I dont know if you read my other thread, but the glass center brace on top broke in half, and I am holding it with a c-clamp. I just dont trust the tank anymore. I am at least the third owner of this tank, and I really dont know how old it is. Could be from the 80's. So, if I am going to stay in this hobby, I think it is the right time. I hate spending 700.00, but if I can sell the other 3 freshwater tanks, hopefully it will offset the cost. Besides, I have so much money invested in the other equipment, (Halides, Chiller, Skimmer etc.):)
