    I forget the name of that thing, but it can grow up to 6' and more. There was a thread about it a while back. They get so big that they "hang" out through your drain lines and clog the drain lines. I would get rid of it. Luna

    i have it captured, how should i get rid of it? thats funny you say about it clogging drain lines, i found it in my skimmer bubble trap, it lost part of a limb on its way threw the needle wheel pump. ouch!!

    They are good scavengers should not be a problem. There is a lot of confusion between brittle and serpent stars. I am under the impression a brittle has the bristly legs and the serpent has smoothe legs. The green brittle stars are the ones you have to watch out for, they are "death stars" they eat fish and inverts. Put it back in your tank or as aquaboy said take it to a LFS.

    Can i ask how did it get in you tank in the first place?? Seems very large for a hitch hiker?!
