I got to move my 55gal. and not sure about what to do about the sand and CC. Can I just leave it in there or do I need to rinse it with fresh salt water? Im only moving 4 miles down the rd.

How old Is the sandbed?if it's more than a year or so I would just replace it to avoid any headaches IMO

For a 55 I would probably just replace unless it is brand new.

Especially if you buy the high desert play sand at HD and mix it with some aragonite like me. $8.00 total for more sand than you would need.

Moving the tank really isnt too bad and the 55 with the sand it it wouldnt be too heavy as long as you were careful. Ive heard of the sand shifting and cracking the tank though.

For how inexpensive it is, i would just get new. Just my two cents...

I just made the move from, 55 to 75g, went from CC to LS with no problems. You will need lots of buckets and patience!

with an established tank I would just replace with plain (I would not want new live sand).

you may experience a short term drop in the ability of your biological filtration as you will lose a certain percentage of bacteria from your sand, but the rock will more than make up for this.
