I just got home from work and for some reason my GBTA is extremely shriveled and tiny. I cannot tell if it is expunging its guts, but it does not look very well.

I called the LFS, and they told me (which they failed to mention when I purchased the nem) that it was only in their tanks for about 45 minutes. The worker I asked said they had had it for weeks. This is the same worker that killed my first derasa clam by ripping its foot off. This guy should not be allowed to work at a LFS.

I think that it may be on its way out (the GBTA), but my long tentacle looks larger than ever. I will give the nem another day or two to see if it is just still acclimating.

The first pic is of the nem yesterday, the second two are of the nem now. All of my params have not changed:

    Calcium 420
    Alk 9
    SG 1.025
    Temp 79
    PH 8.1
    Nitrates 0
    Nitrites 0

The tank is 11 months old. It is 120 G tank with 48 inch Nova Extreme Pro T5 (6 bulb) model.

I also have an extremely large LTA in the tank that is doing quite well. I just got the GBTA two days ago from the LFS and have not fed it anything in my tank. It is also sitting on the very far right edge of the tank against the glass, indirectly out of the light (it was under PC lighting at the LFS). Tomorrow after work should I move it to a more center position in the tank, directly under the lighting?

And in the third picture you can see some of the "stringy" stuff that is coming out of the nem.

yeah, that stringy stuff is its waste, when nems die they tend to just melt pretty much, although this guy isnt mellting, i would be to concerned about it. my condy used to do that all the time....i dont have him anymore though.

my BTA does this around 3 times a week. its just expelling the waste and exchanging water.. perfectly normal.
the only time to worry if its mouth is open and the gut is out.. then you can worry.

And what will the guts look like? Tomorrow when I get home should I try to relocate the nem to a more brightly lit area of the tank?

Nah, let it find its own way; it'll do that anyway.

Give him time he looks okay. Some nems take longer than others to adjust.
