    This is my quarantine tank

That's it. No sump, etc... it's just a standard quarantine. I would like to add my first fish (or 2) to the display. The display is fine. The clean-up crew is doing well. I'm not worried about the display. I kept the quarantine sponge bubble filter thing in my display for about 2 weeks, so hopefully there are some bacteria on it. I'm just nervous that when I put a fish in the quarantine I will get an ammonia spike and my fish might die before it even gets in the display. It's a 30 gallon tank, and we were thinking we need to do a water change every other day. Does anyone have any other tips for starting up a quarantine (without it costing all kinds of extra $$)? We are about to go to the fish store in the next few hours. I might get our first coral too, but I'm just going to stick that straight into the display. Might get Coral RX, but planning to see what fish store recommends about getting the first coral. I'll take forum advice on that one too..

    Thanks :)

    CoralRX for sure
add some pvc tubing in the QT for the fish to hide
and get a product called prime to help with the ammonia spikes
    Seachem Laboratories Prime

And also keep that filter on your tank until ya get the fish so the biofilter stays well fed;)

Good luck, just keep WCs ready and test daily, and don't overstock the QT

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Looks good.

    Above as Cosmo stated.

Do not put more than one or 2 in fish QT initially.

Do not over feed. Fish sometimes will not eat for a day or 2 after introduction, that is fine. Just do not make the mistake of offering food multiple times a day.

Get rid of uneaten food that settles to the bottom. I like to use a turkey baster and a net to filter the tank. Otherwise follow what was said previously! (bonus points if you have neon plastic caves in your QT, see my Zetlight video! LOL)
