I started my 60 Gallon Hex FOWLR in August 2010. Just wanted to give an update and welcome any suggestions/comments. Right now, I only have 2 Damsels, a Dottyback, CC Starfish, 2 hermits, and 2 turbos. I've typically been adding 1-2 fish per month to give time for my levels to compensate. I'm still having some issue with my Bak Pak throwing a few bubbles. It's collecting on the LR. And I've got algae growing too, but I've heard this is usually associated with new tanks. I also just added a 150W Coralife MH light. Here's a pic:

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Great start :)

That light will allow you grow some nice LPS as the lower levels and some easy sps higher in the tank.

Yes the algae is routine with all new systems it will fade as long as you use RO/DI and keeping feedings limited and wc routine.

Maybe you should think about adding more live rock.

    Pretty fish.

@ corailline - I'm adding rock as frequently as I can, but at $9.00/lb for live Fiji rock. the wife has put me on a budget, lol. I'm thinking about getting some base rock and just letting the live rock seed it. I'm hoping to build a column all the way (or close to) the top water line.

@ dellyjoe - I'm not exactly sure what "kind" of bulb it is. It's just the one that came with the light. I'm assuming it's a medium quality bulb. Why do you ask?

Go with the base it will seed as you increase the load. Great savings also.

Delly was looking for the type of light and the manufacturer of the bulb plus its Kelvin rating and wattage. The info should be on the bulb.

Where do you guys think I should position my 2 powerheads? I need to get my bottom stirred up as much as possible, because I'm getting some waste and algae build-up.

Try placing one about the middle of the tank and one at the top to disturb the surface for oxygen exchange. I would add one more to put on the opposite side as the one in the middle aimed parallel to it.
