Ok guys, here is a little background. Well I started this hobby about 6 months ago. Right now I have a 20g tank 6months old 28 pounds of live rock. 2 osc clowns, Six line wrasse, yellowtale damnsel(first fish and still kicking). Inverts are crabs, 2 snails and One red starfish. Corals include 1 head frogspawn size silver dollar. One torch coral, chili coral,1 head duncan, and about 3 differnt mushroom rocks.

My question is this. I just purchased an established 1 year old 90 gallon from a friend with 120 pounds of rock, stand , 3 vho and 2 metal halides. With a 30g sump. Tank is drilled also.

I moving this tank tomorrow and setting it up. My question is how and what do I transfer. Will my new 90 gallon go through a cycle again? Should I wait awhile . Also do i have to acclimate the fish to my new tank I would guess so.

You guys expertise is greatly appreciated.

You may or may not experience a very small cycle after the move. What I would suggest it go ahead and get it moved, test the water and wait for about a week to make sure the system is running smoothly and then your can acclimate your fish into the 90 gallon.

Are there any fish already in the 90 gallon? If it has been fishless for a while there will definitely be a cycle.

If you can, leave all inhabitants in current setup and transfer after new tank is up and running. You will most likely have a cycle.

You can try to keep it minimal with a couple things:

Drain water to the top of the sand level to move.
    Do NOT remove sand.
Put trash bags over top of sand when adding water back in to tank.
Try to keep live rock submerged, minimize time it is in the air.

The faster the transfer the better.
