Found a new lfs today, nice little place not a hgue selection but some nice stuff. They even dip their corals before even introducing them to the DT.

Didnt plan on buying anything but you all know how that goes. Came home with a short tentacle fungia that if I remember correctly was australian?? Also purchased a decent sized frag of montipora confusa that is reddish and when it plates out will have purple edges. Pictures to follow

OK not the best pictures yet still acclimating. Tho little polyps were all out on the monti in store and the tentacles out on the fungia. Still have to research a little bit to figure out exactly where to place them Im thinking the monti is a high light high flow so with my dualbulb T5 HO it is going a few inches below the water surface in a high flow area. THe fungia I guess on the sandbed in medium flow??

Pretty happy with the purchase I got the monti for $9 and the Fungia for $34

They look really nice! You're right with placement. What size is that Fungia?

The fungia is only about 1.5inches maybe a little bit larger. I understand theyre kind of slow growers unfortunately but hopefully feeding will speed it up a little? In the little floating container I dropped a few NLS pellets on it to see if it would eat and the little bugger already took in a few so feeding should not be a problem Im mostly worried about light, being at the bottom on the sand under a dual bulb t5 ho fixture might fade its colors a little bit

I was wondering because one of my LFS's were selling one exactly like that, but 2 inches across for $120. I couldn't figure out why they wanted so much for it. It's good that he's eating. As far as placement goes, I have my red Monti Cap almost half way up my tank and my Goniastrea Brain at the bottom of my tank with a two bulb fixture with stock lights with no problem, so I think the Fungia should be fine at the bottom of your tank.
