Hey guys...I haven't been in the salt water hobby that long but I have a friend helping me build a small tank for my first...he's done this for a long time so it's gone well so far.....it's a 30 gallon tank with most of the LR from his reef tank....I've added some soft corals (a couple different type of zos, a frog spawn, a huge yuma, and some blue mushrooms) and so far only two fish (Splendid Dotty and a Target (psychedelic) Mandarin Goby) which look GREAT! So I'm planning on getting two Picasso clowns and so I went out searching for an anemone...I ended up getting one and all I know it's a blue/purple tipped anemone. So my buddy went looking in his books...told me it would find a place to attach to the rocks through the dirt and that I'd have to get my clowns soon...well it's been in there for two days now and hasn't found a place yet. When I got home today I found it upside down! So I immediatly flipped it right side up. Now what I was wondering if this was normal? Or did I buy a dying piece ;( any help would be appreciated [IMG]

you bought a piece that you shouldn't have. Your buddy (not trying to be mean or piss you off) is steering you far off into the wrong direction. First off you should NEVER put a nem in a tank that is younger than atleast 6 months. This allows your tank time to stable. I don't care if your rock came straight outta the red sea and into your tank, there's still gonna be issues with such a young tank. Another issue is, you have a sebae anemone (and a great looking one at that) and you haven't said anything about your lighting and this is one of the more light demanding and difficult nems that you can buy. You need to get rid of that nem until you get more experience or you will be posting a "my nem nuked my tank thread" or "my nem is turning white, its so beautiful" thread. Sorry but I would really think about taking this out untill your tank is more mature.

He is right they are the harder Anemone to keep. It is also bleached and will take an older more stable environment to get it back to good health. It is advisable to wait until your tank is at least a year up and running. You can keep it though and might get it back up to a good condition. It has been done before. If you want to keep it just let it roll around...do not turn it over or anything it will do it all on its own. Only try to feed once a month as it will live on light....Wait until it is stable and then add the clowns...they will only stress it out more. What kind of lights do you have?
