Alright so here is my new 55g long tank, converted from the 56 g deep with glo lighting. now its got the nova pro 6 bulb fixture and better skimmer. still working on getting rid of the cannister, or just running carbon in it. but I need to get the sump up and running first, researching designs. will help with the film that appears at the top of the water, the main reason I like sumps over cannisters. OH and YES I know the Blue Spot Vlamingii Tang is in way way way to small of a tank. but I went over to some reefer near me who was trying to get rid of his tank with no luck. I saw this guy in there it was a 55 but it was in such bad awefull condition. it had no skimmer no lighting, just a 20 dollar hang on back filter. it was like something out of a horror movie. the nitrates off the charts the salinity was so low you would have thought it was brackish water. he told me he had never done a water change or cleaned it in the year he had it. I felt so bad I took the tang ( who did not look like what he does now) he had fin rot and slight ick and so on. and I got him back to good health. I dont plan on keeping him just letting him get back to good health before i give him off the lfs.

    Thanks

Really been doing alot of research and putting alot of work into the tank. its starting to pay off, seems like you can never know enough tho. Yeah I really liked the rockwork, its simillar to what i had in the 56 so I kept the same basic idea and just elongated it. I'll be putting up more pics here soon, have some cool creatures in the tank I didnt manage to get pics of including, purple lobster, dancing scallop and diamond goby, and some random others.
the amazing thing is these pics were all taken with my new cellphone! lol i about died when I saw the picture quality on the thing, better than our digital camera.

    Potential problem

I might need to move that refugium upwards, the yellow tang has not really bothered with the chaeto algae. but it seems the new one has stumbled upon it and is woofing those things down like spaghetti noodles. its pretty rediculous looking, this fish is consuming everything. the flakes, pellets, nori, chaeto..... and just about anything green or edible it seems lol.

I'll get the link for you, Aquarium Lighting for Reef Systems: Current Nova Extreme Pro Saltwater T-5 Fixtures
that should do it, its an awesome lighting fixture, the splash sheild is sweet, the fans keep it cool. and from the moment i put it on all my corals have done alot better.

oh and to mts, i didnt pay for the tang. read the scription at the top. tho i have heard that once they get big they are worth ALOT of money.
