I currently have a mean 130 watts of pc power blasting down on my tank..This just isn't doin it though lol I would love T5's but the problem is that they discontinued the 36 bowfronts so i'm having trouble finding any 30" fixtures. I have found two that are 30 inches but they only put out 80 or so watts..(are t5 watts worth more than pc watts or something?)..I kind of want to stay away from the halides..don't really have a desire to keep sps..just want more than what my pc's can provide! So any help finding something would be great!

    Thanks,
    Ivan

watts per gallon really is a pretty poor way to measure lighting, even though it has become the accepted standard. A (well built)4x24watt T5HO setup is going to give you a whole lot more PAR at depth then a comparable PC setup. If you are looking for something I would either go with a nice 4 bulb 24" setup or if you don't mind the overhand a 4 bulb 36" setup.

That all being said, I am still a halide guy. Hard to beat the output, and as long as you are studious about placement and design the heat issue can be mitigated.
