    id like to see the light please great job with a diy looking to do the same myself but im not sure about the ballast im not sure if the stuff you can get at home depot will work or not

    Buy electronic ballasts for T5HO bulbs if HD has it, if not order online.

    Everytime I read one of these posts, I wish i was as bold as you folks are with being able to "rip out wiring" and make something cool. I am too chicken to do that stuff!

    When those burn out Buy ATI, Geisemann, UVL, KZ or GE brand bulbs. I wouldn't worry about changing those bulbs for 6 months.

    I took the foil out( it looked kinda redneck) the white of the hood reflects pretty well so anyway here are the pics8)

    hey thanks for the carma 1fish...andi will 2in1 i see every one else on here that has experiance always talk about Geisemann lights........my corals and LR are deffinatly doing really well they stay open now and my LR has things coming outta every crevis!...... love it!

    Hellolights has reflectors for $19 each for 4 foot lights. They are clip on and will get you a ton more light in the tank. I think they will work great with your DIY hood.
