I just wondered how well cycled your tank is. Sorry if you posted that somewhere and I missed it. I know that cleaner shrimp are communal critters. One of mine just died and the remaining one hides most of the time except during feeding time. My sixline wrasse was very small when I got him and I put it in QT at first. He was alone and hid a lot. They do tend to bed down at night in their own cocoon in LR. Using the small QT gave me easier access to feeding him until he was comfortable and I knew he was getting enough to eat. He's very active in the DT now and did fine. I did have some water chemistry issues in the small QT with the sixline but he pulled through fine I believe because I could get the food to him. If you like the fish and the tank is well enough established, I'd go with the sixline, you'll see a lot of it after it gets used to your tank. If you do add one to your display tank, I'd suggest monitoring the ammonia, nitrIte, and SG, pH pretty closely after you add the fish. Happy reefing!

I just added a six line to my tank a couple weeks ago. I only floated him and he did fine. He did give me a scare because he laid down on the bottom of the bag for some time while floating around. However, everything since has been great. He's gotten my amphipod population in check! I hardly ever see those little buggers carrying about their business so brazenly in the open in the middle of the day anymore.

My experience might be different than yours, but I wish you luck all the same.

that's a good point. I had assumed you had an established tank but now I see this in your sig

    "46 gallon bow-front 9/1/09"

so that's probably part of the issue. What are your params?

FYI, I have never seen a shrimp last more than a month in a new tank... They're very sensitive to SG swings and ammonia.

The tank is cycled and ammonia, nitrite, nitrate are all 0. The SG level stays right between 1.024 and 1.025 and ph stays right around 8.3. I took a water sample in to the LFS the other day and all params were the same.
