Hi, I'm new to 3reef. My name is Nick. I have recently started a salt water tank with my roommate, and we are always on the search for information. Figured joining a forum would be a good idea.

Anyways, on to the fun stuff. I work at an animal hospital, and about 10 years ago we did a big remodeling of the building, in the process the old hexagonal 85 gal tank was put in the basement, and replaced with a nice bowed front corner of the room tank.

So back in April I asked the veterinarian that I work for if I could buy the tank from him to start a saltwater tank. Long story short I ended up trading him a glass pendent with a piece of moldivite encased in it for the aquarium. The stand needed a little work as it had started to get some surface rust, so I grinded it down and repainted it black. here are some pics of the tank:

We still need to add a few lbs more of live rock and get a real lighting system going before we go much further. I'll show pics of our creatures in the next post

We started our tank with 2 tomato clown fish. I think they are bullet proof fish for starting a new tank. They grew a LOT. Here is the original "Ally and Bane":

A few days ago Gregg and I agreed that we really wanted a pair of true percula clown fish instead. So after talking with the owner of the LFS he agreed to take back our tomatoes and give us store credit towards the true percula's. Here are the new "Ally and Bane", they are very hard to get a good pic of, as they move constantly since they have not setteled into the tank yet.

We also have a yellow tipped damsel named "Chuck Norris":

And our juvenile Emperor Angel Fish "Dr. Doom":
