    best thing I can suggest:

See that "Google Custom Search" in the upper right-hand corner of any of the pages on the forum?

Type in "refugium" in there and you will get all of the answers you need.

Most of what you are asking are very generic questions which have been answered thoroughly on previous threads.

If after some reading you do not find what you are looking for, you can continue one of the most applicable threads and pose a new question.

    Hope this helps.

Depending on the door size, I would recommend a 29g or a 20L. Give you a little more room wor work with. I use a 20l and got plenty of room for a intake/skimmer area, fuge & return pump chamber. I put mine in when I set up the tank so I had back access, I wouldnt have beenb able to fit it thru the front stand doors though.

I will tell you one thing that I just found out. If you start to see any, and I mean ANY type of algae growing in there, Leave it be. Don't throw a turbo in there trying to "clean it up" like I did. You want the nuisance algae to grow in there, and Not your DT. I think there's a thread about "Mistakes" we've all made being a 'noob', I should copy and paste this there.....

    yeah.....don't do what I did.....

6500k, 75 watt ish equivalent, 4-10 inches from the surface, on a reverse schedule from your normal light cycle.
Sand type (course, fine) and depth
Fine is better, forgot the link to the research, but finer sand = more surface area for bacteria, however too fine (sugar fine) can cause trouble, and I wouldn't advise it. Depths have varying benefit, for a DSB I would say ~4 inches would suffice.
What type of Algae to buy
Chaetomorpha is my macro of choice do to it not really going sexual and nuking the tank. Also free floating and creates lots of space for pods to reproduce
    Water Flow rate through refuge
Sllloooowww for a 10g fuge I would put maybe 50g an hour, its suggested ~3-5 times the volume per hour is best.
