I got a couple new pieces of LR and coral today. Straight out of the ocean so I've got a bunch of living stuff.
    Here goes:
Is this tiny crab reef safe? I already took him out but just wanted to make sure.

    What's this brown slimy blob?

    What's this green goo?

What's this feather duster like thingy? It doesn't have a tube more like a shell... Urchin???? This is it open

For the crab, go here Crab Hitch Hikers and scroll down to the last section and see if it matches any of those crabs. I can't really tell from the pic.

The brown slimy blob looks like what the pollips grow on.

    The pincers are pointy.

Thanks for the link stepho. But unfortunately I really can't ID it.

Ok good. I didn't know if I should scrape it off of the rock or leave it on. I think it's safe to leave it on there right?

Pointy pincers are usually bad in a reef, might want to consider throwing him back. BTW it's legal for you to harvest things from the ocean?

Well, not 100% legal but it's allowed in moderate amounts from where I took them because it's not a protected area of the ocean. Also, I can't break off pieces. I can only take pieces that have already been broken off. That's why the pieces of SPS that I have, More than 80% of the coral is already dead and white before I harvest them.

That is really cool. One reason I could never live by the ocean :). There is no way I could resist that much temptation!

I hear ya. I'm tempted to go in the protected ares to get the good stuff but I can't:-/::)
Any idea what the little feather-like thingy is?

I have no idea. Any chance you can get closer? My closest guess would be a Christmas tree worm...
