I got my tank up last week and decided to add an arrow crab. This guy is AWESOME! there was a lot of leafy stuff on the rocks which I think was algae that was dying that this guy LOVES to eat. I was going to pull the rock back out of the tank and scrub this stuff off since it looked kind of bad, but this lil guy is doing all the work for me! :) The arrow crab is soo fun and interesting to watch and that sucker eats ALL the time. When I brought him home I let the bad sit in the top of the tank for about 15min then poured the bag into a bucket and caught the crab while pouring and then put him into my new tank...the rock I put him on he has been very content with and hasn't move off of it too much..and the moment I put him on that rock he started picking at the stuff and eating and hasn't stopped since. Here are a couple pics

    :)

any idea what that stuff is in the pic that he is eating? I'm guessing some sort of macro algae that probably "used" to have some sort of color before the rock was shipped.

That would be my guess as well. Arrow crabs also eat bristleworms. :) And I believe aiptasia, and feather duster worms...so if you want some of those things...watch him and see how he is. ;)
