Hey all, hope all is well.

Well, I've just started a salt water tank and currently have 2 clown fish in a 10 gallon tank running with a Tunze protein skimmer. I'm planning on purchasing a anemone or two in the coming weeks and I would like to know what kind of lighting would be recommended and where I would be able to obtain it. Thanks much!

    First off welcome!!!

Second, if your tanks not at least 6 months old, hold off on the nem as it will most likely die. For a ten gallon two t5s would be fine or even a 70 watt hqi fixture

how long has your tank been setup? anemones tend to like stable water conditions offered from a mature system.

The tank was just set up about 2 weeks ago. A friend of mines gave me water from his tank so I can start my tank quicker. Would I still need to wait 6months before I would be able to purchase any corals?

Corals you can add right away, i have always added corals, BUT not a nem, id wait a while before adding one. Let your tank mature a little. Dont rush, thats the number one mistake in this hobby :)

Why did you use old water??? Old water is dirty and often times depleted of minereals. The nitrifying bacteria doesn't live in our water at all. It lives on the various surfaces in our tanks. Sorry but need to tell you that for future reference. Now about the nem in the 10 gallon tank. Not a good call. You are a novice aquarist, as we all were at one point, heck.....I'm prolly still considered a novice=) You just don't have the knowledge and experience to care for an anemone in that small of a water volume long term. Things happen in this hobby, and the less water you have, the less room for error. Does this make sense?? Anemones as a whole, are difficult to keep even for the more experienced aquarist. Just so you know. Now with that being said, I would do a 50 percent water change to get the minerals back into the tank that are needed and wait. I would also get the clowns out of there and back to the lfs before something bad goes down. Are you testing your water for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate???? These are all things you need to look at now before considering anymore additions to your tank.

+1, i would get them back if you can but if not they will survie as they are very hardy fish. I have always used a clown to start a cycle(ik, ik bad idea but they are so colorful) but yea listen to this as it was very well said
