So I picked up a 150G from a friend over the past weekend. The 55 I just setup about 5 months ago. This 150 is obviously the biggest tank I have ever used. I have a few questions...

    1. Every tank I have had so far I have drilled for a drain. Should I follow the same route or possibly a pair of drains? Or.....

    2. I am planning on moving all of the water and rocks over to the new tank when I set it up which will not be for awhile. I need to remodel my basement, and build a new stand. This thing will weight around a ton and I don't trust it on the 1st floor of my house.

    3. I have a return pump I am currently using, it s the EHEIM Compact+ Pump 3000, which does amost 800 GPH. Do you think this will be enough of a return flow?

    4. I am going to have to upgrade my Skimmer, I am currently using an SC-65. It has worked quite well, although getting it tuned has been a PITA.

    5. I have the reefbreeders Photon 48, I just got it a few weeks ago. It has the 90 degree optics, will this still work for the 150G without issue?

    6. I have a pair of Jabao WP-25s, do you think the pair of them will work fine in the 150G or do I need to upgrade them to the WP-40s?

I'm sure I will have more questions when I actually start getting started on the build, but this is some of the stuff I am concerned with at the moment. If I need to replace equipment, I would rather do it a little at a time instead of everything at once.

Thanks for helping out! You guys are awesome.

    1. Yes, drill it! Either single or dual; more of a preference I guess.

    2. Wasn't sure if this was a question, but ok.

    3. I think that is likely too small of a pump. That does 792 GPH at 0 head. I can't find a curve anywhere, but I am guessing it will actually do around or less then 500 GPH at 4' head. You want to be in the 450-900 GPH range for sure. Bottom line is, maybe you could get away with using it to start and see how it does.

    4. Yes, you will definitely need to upgrade. Let us know if you need any recommendations.

    5. If you keep it up high enough (like 12"!), you may find it will cover the tank. That may limit you on where you can place SPS though.

    6. I have two WP-40's in my 125. They work awesome. If you have SPS, I am thinking you should upgrade. If you don't, then go with the WP-25's until you do :)

No SPS corals at the moment. So I will stick with what I have for the moment. I have been looking around at different skimmers. I think I am going to keep looking and see if there are any deals on Black Friday for them. Damn That sucks on the light, I just got it too. Would changing the optics help?
