Hello everyone, heard about the forum through reddit.com/r/reeftank/. I'm new to the hobby, just started my research this month. My sister has been into it a few years now. I free-dive/spearfish (non ornamental of course), I also have been visiting my LFS's for a few years now just to take in the view.

I started with wanting an 8gal rimless that was already cycled complete with filter, pump, thermostat/heater, LR, sand, LEDs etc from my LFS. Then I started quoting my own similar set up, more expensive and not rimless. The price though seemed to be about the same for a similar setup for a 40gal minus the stand, so I figured I'd go bigger... But I live in an apt that I plan to move out of in the next year or two, I rather not have a bare tank for a long time and I don't have a few stacks laying around to populate a 50-90gal.. So now I'm collecting my pennies to capitalize on one of the many used Coralife BioCubes 29g setups I keep finding. Seems people get bored of the hobby, or the maintenance, these setups are everywhere used.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Welcome Frank. :)

Yeah this can be an impulse hobby and that almost always ends badly, hence the reason for affordable tanks on craigs list.

The hobby does require almost daily monitoring and slight interventions, not everyone is into that.

Welcome to 3reef! Yes, I actually visited our local forum recently and there were two used biocube systems up for sale. You've picked a great way to start!

Welcome to 3reef. Definitely look at craigslist. I look everyday, hoping to stumble onto a deal for a 125gal. However today in my area, for example, there was a posting for a 8gal Biocube w/ stand for $100 with sand and live rock. That's a steal. If I was in the market for one I'd pick it up. Just watch it and something will pop up
