Hey, I currently have a 55 gallon in cycle. I have three black mollies assisting in the cycle process. I'm supposed to get an undulate trigger tomorrow (09/01/09). I would just like to know if I would be able to keep the mollies in there with the trigger together?

I used mollies to cycle my tank, they are actually brackish water fishes and are easily acclimated to salt water. I wouldn't doubt if the trigger stresses the mollies out, they seem to be trouble makers.

The trigger may well kill the mollies. They can be pretty nasty.

Yep, so I've heard the Undulates are quite mean. Well when I remove the mollies, he's gonna be in there by himself and then when my boss decides to import some more fish, I'm gonna get a black volitan to keep him with. Either that or a queen angel. The trigger is still quite small around 2.5 inches or so. Thanks for the input guys. It's well appreciated. Will keep you updated when I get the fish.
    Cheers

This is the tank with the little mollies. It's not finished as yet, I still have to finish the aquascaping, I just put those old rocks in there so he would have some place to hide while he gets used to his environment.

I would go with the lionfish. A Queen Angel has no business being in that tank. They are grazers who are notorious for being hard to acclimate to captivity. They need lots of soace, and very importantly lots or rock. The amount of rock in the tank they are introduced to can often be the deciding factor on whether or not they survive in someone's tank.

Also the undulated trigger could be a fifth the size of an angelfish and it would still take a chunk out of it. It should leave the lion alone (could be something about those venomous spines, but who knows?;))

I would make sure that you really want an undulated trigger before you get one. They are a pain in the butt when it comes to compatibility in your tank. If it's just a trigger you want try one of the more peaceful ones. If it is the undulated that you want then I wish you the best of luck with him.:)

Thanks for the info. Well, right now at the pet shop because of the lack of demand we haven't imported new fish for a while. From the last shipment, we have the undulate trigger, a strawberry grouper and a regal tang. The undulate was given to me for Christmas by my boss so I don't really have much of a choice in choosing lol. So I had to quickly set up this new tank to accommodate him.8) I'll go with the lionfish then... I prefer the lionfish too. He's easier to feed compared to the angel.
    cheers

It looks like your sump is kind of set up backwards...?

Normally the bioballs are on top of the plastic grate and they are not floating.

Maybe that's how it works for you though...?
