I just got a 29 gallon oceanic biocube $100 has like rock and sand my observation water was clear back of the tank had lots of purple and redish stuff growing in the back the seller tested the salinity of the water he showed me a salinity tester it read 1020-1021 I also saw some green algae
Growing off the rocks I will be taking about 15 gallons of his water and will add about 15 gallons of fresh water he said I should change about half he had two clown fish until about a week ago how does this sound any comments or something that I should be looking for

I ran my first test yesterday and I have attached a link to some photos please would like to hear some input on what you guys think

Welcome! The purple stuff on the back wall is coraline algae, its good. I would add quite a bit of live rock, it doesn't look like the tank came with much. If you're unsure whether your water parameters are with in range please post the actual numbers (to the appropriate thread). Also read some of the forums where a lot of this info is contained. If you're new to the hobby, invest in lots of reading material. You definitely want to be informed. So many places to make mistakes :(. And ask as many questions as you need to. Good luck! Oh and is the biocube the older model with a solid hood?
