i did my profile ;) and its an 80gal tall. thanks for the reply. i got another problem now. i did my first wet run and the temp stayed around 80 degrees all night. no fans, no lights. its 9 am now and its 81 degrees WITHOUT sun in sunny southern cali. before i even begin thinkin about getting halides i think i should get this resolved first. i was thinkin of putting a fan on top of the sump? or i may end up buying a chiller if worst comes to worst. suggestions?

No AC and MH, depending how far you canopy is from the water, is not a real good idea wothout a chiller-buy a used one! ebay or on reef central etc.. You should be able to find one for a good price-the money spent now is much better than coming home one day and seeing all you corals melted. Good Luck

Many people have done that on this forum. That will make a difference and reduce heat. Certainly a cheap thing to try.
