Newbie needs help!

    Just leave your filter on. The sand will settle on its own and shouldn't be an issue after a few days. If you keep turning you filter on and off you are kind of defeating the purpose of having it all.

    4 inches does seem like a lot though. I would say that my sand bed is about 2 inches deep.

    Oh yeah, just remove the foam if you can. That seems to be your main concern anyways. Most of the time you would with live sand, you would add a little bit of water then put your sand in. Then you would put a bowl or something on top of the sand (to pour your water into or onto) and add the rest of your water. This would most likely prevent the problem that you are having.

    gosh, thats what i thought, well the lady at the LFS told us to just dump the sand into the water. ugh... this is very frustrating...:angry:

    Well, update, my tank has a bunch of sand flying around still, i have removed a lot of my sand and the foam is disappearing on its own. My dad said i should just add some water clear-afire, would that help?

    Well, at least you found us here at 3reef. The LFS strikes again lol. Remember to always research what people tell ya to do lol. Can't go wrong doing that. You can usually get an answer to any question fairly fast on here as well.

    Well, it all turned out fine and dandy, my water is CRYSTAL CLEAR!!!!! And the foam is almost all gone, thanks a bunch everybody.
