Are you sure he was dead, and that you didn't just find a molt?

Well since he passed away I went out and bought a cleaner shrimp. He is eating when i give him food. Im nervous since he is hiding like the crab did that he is going die. He has been in there for about a day. Is this normal for him to hide like this?

very normal for cleaner shrimp IME
in fact normal for a lot of shrimps , they do spend a lot of time in hiding
but when they eventually learn they are not on the menu they will spend more time on view ( although IME, they never completely forget their potential place in the food chain and will still spend a lot of time hidden behind the rock work)

fair assumption Vinny - hunger is an emotion that overcomes fear
it will if you let it, take food from your fingers , given time
it will take food from any corals you have target fed also
but once its hunger is satisfied, it will probably go back behind the rocks IME
