Did you add alot of fish recently? How old is the tank that the nitrites are in?

It could be due to something dead in your tank possibly! A cycle could be still evident as well in your tank...

i added a couple to look nice while it cycles, a couple of 1/2" -1" damsels, just a few days in the tank, its a new tank that i want to set up for just the clowns and anemone

Nitrites in a cycling tank are perfectly normal. Eventually, they will drop and your nitrates will rise. Once your nitrates rise and then fall, you should wait a couple of weeks before adding any other fish. I wouldn't suggest adding an anemone to your tank unless it's 6 months or older though.

i have this seachem stuff called PRIME, has anyone used it? it seemed to take care of the ammonia in my other tank quite well and cleaned up the water too. will this help or is it bad to add chemicals

Don't do anything at this point. The tank needs to cycle and adding Prime or doing water changes is only going to stall the inevitible.
