i did i quick search and found a couple of threads about nitrites with diffrent opinions. my problem is that my nitrites have been 5.0+ for a week now with no signs of going down. i read a post that said to high of nitrites can stall a cycle, and someone suggested diongs a 20% water change and it helped the system. is this something i should do? its been almost a month now since tank has been setup.

levels right now. ph 8.0 ammonia 0 nitrites 5.0+ nitrates 20-40

Your tank is fairly new, I wouldnt fret about 5.0 nitrates. Your still FOWLR correct? 5.0 isnt bad, you can fix that with a watter change & cutting down on feeding some.

another suggestion is to stick with one or two threads, you've got so many that it will get hard for people to follow and track information on your tank. Makes it much easier for people for follow & help with less threads.

Multiple threads and asking questions is NEVER a bad thing. I would rather see someone make 20 threads than kill whats in thier tank. The problem comes with multiple threads people check in from time to time and may not be familiar with your tank. Then you run into people asking to tank parameters, equipment, lighting, etc etc. Then it gets annoying to then and you having to post it several times. Its just easier for you and us. it's also easier for the next guy that comes along with the same question.

but yes a nitrate level of 5 for a FOWLR is not a concern. I would say monitor it just because but it isnt life or death for any occupants you have now.

Only up for almost 1 month with no livestock... you may still be in the cycling process, depending on which method you used. You'll see high nitrites if that's the case.
