ALL R/C cars need hopups to make them faster. i have the ofna mutilator 1/8 scale, and a HPI baja, and it does about 40 mph outa the box and for a car that is this big thats FAST.
1/10 scale R/C is so much more expensive than 1/5 scale.

I was just at hobbytown yesterday and they had a traxxas stadium truck that said I think 70+ outta the box...but it was electric.

No doubt electrics are fast, but the down side is run time..as with nitro you just have to fill up on the run.
    thats y i liked the 1/5 scale 2 stroke..you get 45+ mins on a tank full.

Plus, I have seen some nasty Lipo accidents from running too hard.

I was into nitro R/C for nearly 20 years. I was so sick and tired of it that I sold all my stuff to start this hobby.

I met a guy that moved by me from England. He was big into it so he got me into the hobby. I spent quite a bit of time and money on it then he moved back to England so my stuff just sat in a spare room. I just sold it all because I was sick of looking at wasted money.

I have seen a bottle of nitro fuel blow up in a kids hand...that was funny!...Only because he didn't get hurt. It could have been bad.

im not sure if i want electric or gas. i hear the lipo batts can go for awhile but no 1 has an about time on runtime. i like that i can refill and go with nitro but at the same time i know the engines dont last very long and are very expensive.

My nitro care only lasts like 10 minutes. Most of the people I run with who have electric run longer then me, except people who running brushless and they are about the same. But they don't use lipo batteries. My car has a fairly small tank but you should still let the motor cool down before running again. It is still faster then waiting for a battery to charge though. I don't know about motors not lasting long though either. My car is a few years old easy original motor and I run it almost every day multiple times a day durring spring summer and fall. I beat the heck out of it too. Over heat it all the time, run it lean, and hold it flat out constantly. I also never run after run oil...ever. I do on the other hand clean my air filter almost everyday.
