Sounds like a tube anemone or possibly a condi. Keep in mind tube nems need to be fed every couple of days and a condi in low light will also need feedings.

I don't know a lot about mantis tanks but you are thinking of a pink cerianthus sp? anemone. They are ravenous eaters and they do just fine in the lower light

I would not put an anemone in a mantis tank. Mantis shrimp like to rearrange constantly, all that is going to do is PO the anemone.

Dr. Caldwell advised against it. He said the anemone may eat the mantis.

It could also be a strawberry anemone. They don't require any light at all but require frequent feedings. They don't live long in aquariums that would be at a temperature good for a mantis though....they are a coldwater species.

Inwall....are you saying that the strawberry nem does not like heavy lighting? I have one in my tank that mostly stays closed up and I figured he would come out once I get my better lighting. I only have T8's right now and have T5's coming. My other nems are doing fine under these lights, but I want to venture further, that is why I am upgrading. What is the best care for one of the strawberry nems...also from what I have been told is called a spotted rose. Thanks for your input.
