I want to upgrade my skimmer and was looking at a Bullet 2. I seen they have an optional muffler for it. I was wondering if anyone that has one could tell me if it is noisy? Also does the muffler work? It is only like 10 bucks. I would think if you spend 3 or 4 hundred bucks they would throw in a piece of foam free.

Mine has almost no noise at all. Even with my head in the cabinet.. I can't hear a thing cuz the pump drowns it out.

I take it you like it. Is it to big for my 90g, with 15g sump and 20g refuge?

I think it will be fine... always good to have a skimmer rated for more gallons.
And yeah.. I like the skimmer.. built like a tank.

Yeah, Mine doesn't seem to foam much. .. some I see in the stores seem to have a nice steady dry foam going up and black skimmate. My skimmate is brownish green water. Yesterday everything got a good cleaning and it seems more active for sure.
If you keep the neck clean it seems to take out more gunk.
But after nearly 5 months my nitrates are still 0. Nitrates when to 5-10 a couple times but I think it's cuz I stirred the sandbed and some stuff was in there.
I'm still trying to play around with the sweet spot for the bubbles and gate valve . Breaking it in seems to take upwards of a week... I guess it depends on your bioload.
The little tiny blue bubble valve is what I took apart and cleaned for the first time and it made a big difference.

I love my bullet 3. Hardly makes any noise. The muffler they are talking about just quiets down the air intake. Been running mine about a year and still have the same one that was sent with it. I just take it off every once in a while and blow it from inside out to clean it.

Will take a few days to break it in so don't get frustrated. If you have Ozone then fire it up and it will help break it in. What pump are you using with it???

I have a new mag 1800 sitting here so im going to try that out for starters. pm said it will work and the part of the sump I have has no fluctuation in water depth so im going to give that a try. If I find it tough ill get a external from pm.
