;D Jason, that is too funny. Where were you a couple months ago? When I set up the 300 my LFS just recommended drilling a bunch of holes in a pvc pipe and sticking some filter floss in the top. It's pretty quite, but I was worried about an overflow if something got out of whack.

I was looking at the Magflos(sp?) on my 210 and scribbled up plans that look just like the Derso's. I have a bag of parts waiting for assembly. I even have endcaps that I was planning on drilling vent holes into. And there I thought I was special and impress you guys with my DIY. :tongue4: Well at least I know this DIY will work. :)

OK job done. Something interesting came out of it. I ran a short length of air hose through the hole in the cap. By adjusting how deep the hose ran down the tube I was able to adjust the height of water in the overflow to minimize the splashing. Oh, I also have a 5" length of pvc pipe running back down into the overflow. The original thought on that was to make sure the pickup was alway submerged and quiet.
    It is very quiet!
I'm half thinking of running a longer pvc pipe into the bottom of 2 of the overflow's returns (there are 4 in 2 overflows), so I don't have stagnant water sitting down there. So 1 return will pull water from 6ish inches down and the other will pull from a few inches off the bottom. The short air hose will prevent excess siphoning in case of power outage. Opinions?

The Dero Standpipe seems that it would stop the noice, BUT wouldn't waste collect in the bottom of the overflow, decay there and cause a nitrate problem??

No if anything it turns into a little mini Refugium. But usually snails and crabs get in and clean it up
