i have the ocoto bh 800s on my tank, i'd assume this would be similar to yours, but i'm not sure. But from what i know with this skimmer, it takes a while to brake in, so if it's only 3 days old it's in the brake in period. So i'd say give it two weeks. I know with my skimmer, i really had to keep playing with the intake tube to make it become quiet because my tank is also in my room.

Hope this helps, as i don't know much about skimmers but this is what i've experienced with mine :)

thanks so much puffer. so what u are telling me is that the noise coming from the pump or elsewhere will be less noise than what its now? after break-in period? :) that would be a nice thing

Many pumps are very loud during the break in period. Check to see if it's vibration noise from it sitting against something and if it is try putting some kind of buffer in between. Does the air intake come with a silencer?

thx mike. yep the air intake come with a muffler or silencer. i see.. well .. actually thats not a vibration noise, its more like the impeller maybe? or perhaps the mixing water-air process?? but not vibration. its the oct1000 pump. but i dont know if its a normal behavior ...meaning the noise mike :/

For what it's worth - years ago I had a similar problem with aquarium pumps being loud. I went to Target or the like and bought dimpled bed foam. I cut this to fit the inside of my stand and I stapled it in there with flatside against the stand walls. This dramatically cut down the sounds from inside my stand. FYI. It's cheap and easy to do.
