Yes, of course. I still have the setup running constantly. It has now fully cycled and I am waiting for some equipment to be delivered. The trick I used was to drill a hole that would provide a good level of flow, but choose a return pump that can surpass the flow of the drilled hole. Then, I simply installed an adjustable valve in the tubing from the return pump. I tried using a valve on the large tubing from the drilled hole, but a valve that large is too difficult to make tiny adjustments on, whcih as I'm sure you can imagine was very necessary for matching the flow between the overflow hole and the return pump. a smaller valve is easier to micromanage.

Yes, I will be going reef. I ordered an AquaC Urchin skimmer because it has a very tiny footprint (4x6 inches) due to its rectangular design. I am unsure about my stocking for corals to be honest, but I would like to have a pair of clowns, a mandarin dragonet, some sort of dwarf angel, and a yellow tang. I already have 5 astrea snails and 5 nassarius snails for a bit of early cleanup, but will be adding more of them as well as cerith snails, nerite snails. also, would like to add an emerald crab, a cleanr shrimp and a peppermint shrimp.

I know. I'm going to buy a baby (1") and plan on upgrading in less than 18 months. I'm sure I will manage..

Sorry for the belated response. I assume you've already added sans as it looks l like you might be up and running. Hopefully it won't cause you any issues. I guess I'd feel safer knowing if was from gathering it via diving but I think you're still taking a risk. Hope it works out for you. How cool would it be (all be it difficult and most likely illegal) to dive and catch your own fish for your tank!
